Wythe County Community Hospital Auxiliary Donates to Women’s Center

The Volunteers of Wythe County Community Hospital recently donated $21,401 to the Women’s Center to remodel the existing nurse’s station.
"The remodel of our nurses station complements the patient experience," states Lisa Johnston, Director of Women’s Services. “It’s the first thing patients and family member see when they enter the department, and we are so happy with the more modern look and feel as well as the convenient layout for our nurses and physicians.”
"We are so pleased to be able to help with the renovation of this service line," says Betty Gallimore, President of the Wythe County Community Auxiliary. "Through our fundraising efforts we strived to always enhance the health care offerings available in our community."
Prior to COVID-19, auxiliary members served the local hospital in many capacities; among those were welcoming and greeting guests and patients, operating the hospital gift shop, and holding various events to raise money to support the hospital. “The auxiliary program started shortly after the hospital was dedicated in 1972,” said Gallimore. “But after COVID we decided to close the program.”
“We want to express our sincere appreciation for the many years of volunteer service that this group gave to our hospital and to the communities we serve,” said Vicki Parks, CEO of Wythe County Community Hospital. “They were the face of the hospital for many years, and we appreciate all their efforts and support of our services.”
The JAVA Blend Coffee Shop now occupies the original gift shop area.
