WCCH Announces 2016 Professional Excellence in Nursing Award.

Anita Irvin, RN, BSN - WCCH Nurse of The Year 2016
Anita Irvin, RN, BSN has been selected for the Professional Excellence in Nursing Award for 2016. This award demonstrates exemplary service and dedication to excellence. Recipients epitomize leadership, talent, innovation, commitment, and outstanding outcomes. They are nominated by their peers and selected by the employees at Wythe County Community Hospital.

Anita has led quality and safety initiatives in the surgical department with great success, said Theresa Dix, Chief Nursing Officer at Wythe County Community Hospital. “Her leadership skills and easy demeanor has made a difference in the nursing staff and supports the care they provide for our patients.”

Anita received her nursing degree from Wytheville Community College and her BSN degree from King University. Irvin began her career at WCCH in 2008 as a department nurse and was promoted to supervisor status in 2015. She has been the interim Medical/Surgical Director and provided significant change and growth within the department.
Irvin and her husband Chris have two children Laken and Grayson. Irvin enjoys being involved with the local Relay for Life committee as well as school functions with her children.
